Info & Discography
Raised in the East Bay of San Francisco by tone-deaf non-musical parents, Spud Davenport was probably bitten by a radioactive spider, therefore explaining his multiple musical abilities.
Through the years, while trying to prove this theory, Spud wrote some songs and played some Drums.
Owing much to quirky artists like Warren Zevon and Tom Waits, Spud Davenport spins his tales of woe and WHOA with his Accordian, Piano, Guitar, and Kitchen Skillets.
Sometimes sarcastic, sometimes sad, sometimes so silly, Spud sings and screams the stories of the hopeless, but hopeful. A Suburban Housewife gone mad (Time Bomb Mom), a Homeless man and his happiness (Hot Black Cast Iron Stove), a Modern-day Bonnie & Clyde (The Out-of-Towners), and an accident victim's bad-karma recall and remorse (Waiting for the Ambulance), to name but a few.
In March 2007, Spud released his debut album, Green, showcasing his many abilities including Producer.
Spud also plays Drums and sings in The Shamey Jays, an original Hard Rock / Blues / Garage band in San Diego.
The Shamey Jays' album, "Your Pretty Packages", was released in 2009 and that year was nominated for Rock Album of the Year by The San Diego Music Awards Commitee.
Says Spud: "While alot of my heroes are British, I must send out big-props to our Great American Songwriters and Composers, like Paul Simon, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, Randy Newman, John Hiatt, Warren Zevon, Steve Earle, and Frank Zappa. All of whom are odd and oddly present in my music, somehow."
"Currently, I am working my self-employed, self-imposed day job while writing, recording, and performing. I live in the San Diego North County with my lovely wife, Janel, and a buncha dogs."
